This exceptional Japanese Wakizashi is a testament to the refined artistry of the mid-to-late Edo Period (17th – 19th Century). It embodies the powerful yet elegant craftsmanship of the Sagami (Soshu) tradition, a lineage historically celebrated for its superior metalwork and connection to Japan’s most elite samurai circles.

The blade features a clear signature on the tang (Nakago), identifying the maker as Sagami-ju Kunimichi (相模住国口). Kunimichi was a respected smith active in the Sagami province, and his work is characterized by the strength and resilience typical of the Soshu school.
